It’s been a long time! Sorry for the lack of updates. We’ve been hard at work for the last couple of months and we’ve got some great new stuff to show!
I won’t be able to cover all of the changes that we’ve made to BitCraft in a single blog post, but I do want to hit some of the major highlights.
New Visual Style
The most exciting new update is that we’ve totally revamped the visual style of the game. We’ve totally changed the look and feel of the game and I think it looks 10 times better. Check out some of our concept art!
You can see we got rid of the dividing lines between hexagon cells and made the whole landscape much more natural looking. It feels so much more amazing to walk through a natural landscape and we’re super excited for the next play test.
The above images are from a concept scene that we have, but we’re also implementing this new style into the game itself. These are also by no means final images. We’re constantly working and improving the look and feel of the game.
We’ll also have a few more biomes to show you in the next few months!
New City Building System
As you can tell from the art above, we’ve also totally revamped the city building aspect of the game. You can now build custom shaped buildings and walls to make a city look just how you want it. One of the things that we didn’t like about Alpha 1 was that all of the cities looked the same, and there was very little you could do to make a city your own.
The concept buildings in the art above will almost certainly not be the final buildings, but that’s the sort of city shape that we’re going for. It should be *much* more rewarding to build your city this time around.
Animations and Equipable Items
If you recall we had hardly any animations in Alpha 1 play test, so the game felt very prototype-y and incomplete. No longer! Without further ado, I’d like to do a little screenshot Sunday and show you some actual gameplay from our prototype.
We’ve got so much more exciting stuff to share with you in the coming weeks, but I’ll save some of that for future blog posts!
